Customer

Where it runs

They can install it anywhere, rebuild a cluster or fail over without asking us. Running it in more places than they bought is a contract matter.

It opens only in these clusters, so it cannot be copied elsewhere. A new or rebuilt cluster needs a new license, and their chart needs license.clusterRole=true to read the cluster's ID. They run this in each cluster and send you what it prints:

kubectl get namespace kube-system -o jsonpath='{.metadata.uid}'

Term

days
Length

Dates are 00:00 UTC. In the grace period their console warns every day; after it, opencontroller stops.

Features

Limits

Empty is no limit. Limits are shown and warned of in their console, not enforced.

Releases

The opencontroller releases this license runs. Leave as is unless the contract limits upgrades.

For our records

Kept here, not written into the license.

Summary

    Check before you issue

This is what will be signed. Once issued, a license cannot be changed, only revoked and replaced.

    Read a license file

See what a file a customer sends says. A license for named clusters opens only with one of their IDs, as it would in their cluster.
